Cate is a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and Registered Mental Health Practitioner with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and holds a Masters degree in Psychoanalytic Studies and completed a four year program in Gestalt Therapy.
Her experience in mental health has been extensive including inpatient units, community mental health services, self harm and suicide intervention programs, crisis management, youth, gender dysphoria, sexual assault and trauma and group therapy programs. She has a particular interest in working with Youth and held a senior clinical position in a large government Youth Mental Health service before going into private practice.
Cate believes the relationship between therapist and client is paramount and works to assist in developing insight, awareness and self acceptance. She is passionate about neuroscience and the role that mindfulness practice, meditation and yoga can play in contributing to well being and mental health.
Cate sees clients for short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy. While she specializes in working with youth and adults who have difficulty with managing their emotions, complex trauma and BPD ( Borderline Personality Disorder), some of the other concerns that people also come to see her about on a regular basis included :
Cate was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her work at ground zero following the first Bali Bombing in 2002.
