Counselling and Clinical Psychologist

Penny was registered as a Counselling Psychologist in 1987. Her Masters degree in South Africa involved extensive supervised practical experience with children, adolescents, adults and families. She ran a private practise and supervised the clinical work of Masters in Psychology students from 1994 until moving to Australia in 2009 with her husband and three children (1988,1991,2002).
Her training and ensuing practise has led to her drawing on many different theoretical and therapeutic approaches according to the needs of each client, in order to understand, and facilitate, the changes sought. These include strategies arising within the psychodynamic approach, cognitive behavioural approach, attachment theory, object relations theory, narrative therapy to mention a few.
She focuses on enhancing the well being of the client and providing the tools necessary to deal with the stress or crisis being faced, and enabling the person to interact more effectively with their environment (at home or at work, with families, friends and colleagues). She works with adults, couples, adolescents and children.
